About Ailsa

Ailsa Villegas is a singer/songwriter and recording artist from the Highlands of Scotland. 

Ailsa writes contemporary folk music characterised by simple production, heartfelt lyrics and beautiful harmonies. Ailsa also writes lyrics and provides vocals for EDM. She has three commercial singles released on record labels Neuroscience (UK), Macarize (Sweden) and Grammermusic (Netherlands).

Ailsa is the daughter of an English teacher and a piano teacher. Growing up, she learned to play the saxophone, piano and then guitar. She was always happiest singing.

When not making music, Ailsa works for NHS Highland as a Senior Health Development Officer within the Public Health team. She has worked for many years on a number of initiatives promote health and tackle inequalities. She previously led the Recovery Choir on behalf of the Highland Drug and Alcohol Partnership.

Ailsa has combined her knowledge of health and music to create  “Singalicious” – fun and friendly sing workshops aimed at being accessible, enjoyable and improving our health.  Ailsa is First Aid trained and PVG certified and has a keen understanding of different health needs. 

Ailsa is married to Richard and mum Nico and Lucas. Together they live in Boat of Garten near Aviemore.
